What’s the difference between an inshore and offshore trip?

An inshore trip includes the beaches of Anna Maria Island, Eggmont key, Tampa Bay, Sarasota Bay and all of the backwater nooks and crannies a boat can get to. These waters contain a large variety with some really nice size fish.

An offshore trip in the Gulf of Mexico is often 40 miles or more offshore as the bottom gradually drops off the west coast of Florida, and it takes that distance to be in deeper waters. For example: 10 miles west  of Anna Maria Island, in the Gulf of Mexico, is only about 45 feet deep. You can find water more than 45ft. deep in  Tampa Bay. Offshore trips of 40 miles or more provide some exciting encounters with some big fish and are more expensive than Inshore trips as fuel expenses and time goes up. Some charters will try to market an inshore trip as an offshore trip. So, if you’re not truly going offshore, the choice is easy. Join me for an inshore trip.
